Ronan Farrow's new book "Catch and Kill" has made a lot of headlines about allegations involving NBC News, Harvey Weinstein, and even elite spies. He came to HQ to connect the dots, and told us his advice for other investigative journalists. NBC News and Weinstein have separately denied Farrow’s account. The network has consistently said that Farrow didn’t have enough evidence to publish the story.

Chanel Miller is the author of a new memoir called “Know My Name.” You might not have heard her name before, but you’ve probably heard her story. In January 2015, she was unconscious when she was assaulted by a student athlete named Brock Turner outside of a party on Stanford’s campus. Turner was found guilty in 2016 of three felony counts of sexual assault and sentenced to six months in county jail. He only served 90 days. His light sentence ignited a nationwide debate about consent and privilege. Miller’s victim impact statement was released on BuzzFeed, and immediately went viral around the world. Her identity was kept private under the alias Emily Doe the entire time. Now, she’s reclaiming her narrative and telling her story on her own terms.

A federal judge blocked Alabama’s controversial abortion law on October 29th, 2019. The law banned abortions during every stage of pregnancy (except if the mother’s life was at risk). It would have taken effect on November 15th. Similar laws have been blocked in Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, and Kentucky. Alabama’s attorney general says this was expected, and the state wants to get the case in front of the Supreme Court with the hope of overturning Roe v. Wade. We asked presidential candidate and former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-TX) about this when he stopped by the office. He told us that if he’s elected, he would propose a federal law affirming Roe v Wade. CBS Reports explores the intricate world of gender, beyond him or her. Over the past several years, transgender narratives have populated countless headlines and TV sets. The world watched as Caitlyn Jenner transitioned, "Transparent" swept the Emmy Awards, and a Virginia boy's case to use the men's bathrooms at his school headed to the Supreme Court. Yet, in all that conversation, there is a type of transgender person you never hear about. They are called non-binary. They use the pronouns they/them. And they do not identify with being either a man or a woman. Rather, these individuals often choose to reject gender completely, or fluctuate between masculinity and femininity on a day-to-day basis. As a result, no one non-binary person is like the next. Nellie Smith celebrated 1 year as the owner of her restaurant, Red Wagon Bakery, on March 15th. It was also the day she closed her doors to help flatten the curve during the coronavirus crisis.
